Relay roadmap

Here's what we're working on. For feature requests or more information, join the project on Discord.

Build Obsidian plugins that add collaborative experiences on top of Relay, such as Relay Comments

Changes made directly to files on disk are picked up and merged automatically

Shared folders stay up to date without notes open and recover from server restarts and network blips

Real-time multiplayer support for Obsidian’s core Canvas plugin, enabled by default

Bases sync across devices by default (requires storage)

Fixed race conditions in document sync and resolved empty note bugs

Helpful prompts when no shared folders are available and streamlined folder download during setup

Updated UI and merge conflict interface for Obsidian Mobile 1.11.0

Profile photos of collaborators currently viewing the same document

Real-time multiplayer support for the community Kanban plugin

Support for Microsoft authentication and other login options

Self-hosting capabilities for enterprises and privacy-focused teams

Support for non-.md files (pdf, jpeg, etc.)

Improved startup reliability and fixed crashes on Android

Force logout if authentication token is out of date

Reduced unnecessary syncing on startup and improved progress indicators

Automatic folder sync that uploads entire folders when you share them, and downloads all notes when you add a Shared Folder to your vault

Improved interoperability with other sync tools like Google Drive, iCloud, and Obsidian Sync
